Late interest and exact-payoff steps
After the grace period, the Township says interest is charged according to New Jersey statute and must be calculated through the date the Tax Collector will receive payment.
The statute permits municipal interest up to 8% per year on the first $1,500 of delinquency and 18% per year on the amount above $1,500, calculated from the date the tax was payable until actual payment.
Call extension 8342 for the exact amount through the expected receipt date. A small shortage can leave the account delinquent.
Open liens, redemption requests and certificate fees
| Service | Published fee | Important condition |
|---|---|---|
| Certificate of redemption | $25 each | Used when a lien no longer shows open but a certificate is needed to clear the County Clerk record. |
| Municipal lien search | $10 per certificate | A continuation requested within three years is listed at $2 per calendar year. |
| Duplicate tax-sale certificate | $100 | Separate from an ordinary bill copy. |
| Lienholder redemption calculation | $50 | The code authorizes this for calculation of a lienholder’s own tax-sale certificate. |
| Third or later redemption statement in a calendar year | $50 | Applies to qualifying repeat requests under the municipal code. |
