Property-tax due dates, grace period and late interest
Howell permits 10 calendar days. If the tenth falls on a weekend or legal holiday, the next regular business day becomes the final grace day.
Interest is charged back to the original quarterly due date. Call for an interest-inclusive payoff instead of sending only the printed installment.
| Account | Normal due dates | Important cutoff |
|---|---|---|
| Property tax | Feb. 1, May 1, Aug. 1, Nov. 1 | Normal 10-day grace concept; check temporary notices. |
| Sewer | Jan. 1, Apr. 1, Jul. 1, Oct. 1 | Official sewer page states receipt by 3 p.m. on the grace deadline. |

Failed, reversed, duplicate or wrong-account payment
Tax liens, bankruptcy, special charges and annual tax sale
Cannot be redeemed through normal online payment. Request an official redemption figure and follow certified-funds instructions.
An amount can be transferred to a special-charge account, so the regular tax account may appear paid while another balance remains due.
A separate amount can exist in addition to regular taxes or sewer. Call before paying only the visible standard account.

Find the property card, assessment history and parcel details
Howell says its older “Tax Search” service is temporarily suspended. Use WIPP for the payment account and Monmouth County’s records system for assessment cards, ownership, sales and parcel data.

Applicants age 65+ or receiving qualifying Social Security/Railroad Retirement disability benefits use PAS-1 for Senior Freeze, ANCHOR and Stay NJ review.
New Jersey currently lists November 2, 2026.
