What should you do first?
Use the Tax Collector property tax search. It shows the account, year, paid status, bill, receipt and payment route.
Use the Property Appraiser. That office handles property values, exemptions, ownership records, address changes and parcel mapping.
Do not guess the amount. Delinquent real estate payments require certified funds and the received date controls the payoff.
Putnam County Tax Collector FL: Use the right official tool
The official Tax Collector site is the safest first stop when your goal is a balance, tax bill, paid status, receipt, installment request, delinquent payoff or tax certificate payment question.
Search by Account #, Owner Name, Property Address or Billing Address. Select the year and paid status before searching.
Use this for value, exemptions, ownership, mailing-address updates, parcel research and map/GIS work.
Use the Clerk tax deed search only when you are checking active tax deed records, not ordinary current tax bills.
Putnam County tax collector property search by owner, address, account or billing address
The official portal does more than a simple name search. Start with the search type that matches the information you already have.
| Search type | Use when | How to enter it | Before paying, verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Account # | You have the tax bill or a prior receipt. | Enter the account number exactly, or use the portal wildcard examples if needed. | Account, tax year, paid status, property address and balance. |
| Owner Name | You know the taxpayer or company name. | Try last name first. The portal examples include Smith, Smith J, Smith John and *Jane*. | Owner match, mailing address, property address and tax year. |
| Property Address | You know the site address in Putnam County FL. | Start with number plus street name. Use * as a wildcard when a street name is hard to match. | Correct parcel, city/community, owner and year. |
| Billing Address | You know where the bill is mailed, not the property location. | Use the mailing address search and select year and paid status. | Do not pay a similar mailing record unless the property also matches. |
| Paid Status | You need a paid receipt, old bill or unpaid balance. | Choose All, Paid or Unpaid with the correct year. | Receipt date, amount paid, current remaining balance and year. |

Putnam County property owners may be able to pay current taxes quarterly. This is different from a delinquent payment plan.
The estimated tax bill must be more than $100. The application must be submitted to the Tax Collector by April 30 of the year the owner wants to begin installment payments.
If the first June installment is not paid, the account is removed from the installment plan and a new application is required for the next year.

|---|---|---|---|
| 1st | June 30 | 6% | Based on the previous year’s taxes. |
| 2nd | September 30 | 4.5% | Based on the previous year’s taxes. |
| 3rd | December 31 | 3% | Based on the new tax roll. |
| 4th | March 31 | No discount | Based on the new tax roll. |

Real estate taxes become delinquent April 1 when they are not paid on or before March 31. After delinquency, the payment rules change.
Delinquent real estate taxes must be paid by cashier’s check, certified check, cash or money order.
The amount due is based on the date the payment is received in the office, not the day you looked at an old balance.
