Orange County, Florida · Appointment, office and tax-payment guide

Book the Right Service, Office or Tax Payment

Use this guide to schedule an OCFL Tax Collector appointment, choose an Orange County office that performs your transaction, pay property taxes safely and avoid contacting the Tax Collector when the Property Appraiser is the office you actually need.

The elected office is the Orange County Tax Collector, Scott Randolph. Official appointments, payments and account actions should begin through octaxcol.com or the official service linked from that site.

Florida county check: This article covers Orange County, Florida. Do not use an Orange County, California Treasurer-Tax Collector portal or an unrelated map listing for an Orlando-area bill or appointment.

Start with the task

Which Orange County office or website should you use?

1
Appointment, license, ID, tag or title

Choose a motorist office, confirm the exact service and review document requirements before booking.

2
Property-tax bill or payment

Use the online tax portal, mail route or an office location. Option 2 handles tax-payment questions.

3
Value, owner, address or exemption

Use the Orange County Property Appraiser—not the payment office.

Fastest routing rule: The Tax Collector collects and processes. The Property Appraiser identifies, values and applies exemptions.

Appointment workflow

How to book an OCFL Tax Collector appointment correctly

The official Locations page says Orange County Tax Collector offices are open to Orange County residents. Road tests use a separate reservation and payment process from ordinary office appointments.

Choose the transaction before the officeDecide whether you need a driver license/ID, written test, tag/title, road test, parking permit, hunting/fishing license, property-tax payment or another service.
Check whether the task can be completed onlineA tag renewal, driver-license renewal, electronic-title request, property-tax payment or business-tax renewal may not require a counter visit.
Use the official appointment pathOpen the Tax Collector Locations page and select “Make an Appointment.” The standard booking link does not schedule road tests.
Select an office that performs the serviceNot every office offers road tests, hazmat transactions, CDL services or Florida birth certificates. Use the office matrix below.
Review document requirements before confirmingMissing proof of identity, Orange County address, insurance, title, tax notice or required application can make the appointment unusable.
Save the booking confirmationRecord the office, service, date, time and confirmation information. Use the official site to cancel or look up the appointment when plans change.
Arrive for the booked service—not a different taskA road-test reservation, standard motorist appointment and limited Tax Department appointment are not interchangeable.
Road-test rule: Road tests are available by separate appointment at West Oaks Mall, Lee Vista & 417, Sand Lake, Clarcona and University. The official Locations page lists a $45 appointment fee.
Private tag agencies are different: They provide tag/title services only, may offer evening or Saturday hours and charge additional fees. They do not replace a Tax Collector office for driver-license or ID service.

Plan and deferral help

Quarterly installment plan and homestead tax deferral

Installment plan eligibility
  • Current and delinquent taxes must be paid.
  • Prior-year taxes must exceed $100.
  • A first-time application applies to the next tax bill, not the current bill.
  • Applications are submitted through the property record online.
Homestead tax deferral
  • Designed for qualifying homestead-exempt taxpayers.
  • Deferral amount depends on age and household adjusted gross income.
  • Application is due to the Tax Collector by March 31.
  • It is not the Homestead Exemption application.

How to apply for the installment plan

Payment troubleshooting

Fix a missing bill, unposted payment or previous-owner problem

Payment is not postedKeep the confirmation, check image, date, amount and parcel. Call 407-434-0312 so a clerk can research the status before you pay again.
Previous owner is on the billThe Property Appraiser supplies the tax roll. Use that office to verify ownership; payment alone will not rewrite the record.
Mailing address is wrongSubmit an address change to the Property Appraiser, not the payment processor.
Mortgage company may have paidCheck the escrow-disbursement date and parcel before making a personal payment. Duplicate payments can delay refunds.
Tax amount is lateRequest a current payoff and certified-funds instructions rather than sending the original notice amount.
Traffic ticket or citationTraffic fines are handled by the Clerk of Court, not the Tax Collector. Do not send court payments to the property-tax office.
