Asbury Park Tax Collector: Pay Taxes, Office Hours & Address

The Asbury Park Tax & Sewer Collections Department handles property tax billing, payments, delinquent balances, sewer collections and municipal tax-sale enforcement for property in the City of Asbury Park.

Use this page to reach the official payment system, confirm the City Hall office address and hours, understand quarterly due dates, choose the right payment method, or determine whether you need the Tax Collector or Tax Assessor.

2026 billing notice: The City currently reports that mailing of the tax bills originally due August 1, 2026 was delayed because the certified tax rate was not received in time. Those bills cover the third and fourth quarters of 2026 and the first two quarters of 2027. The City states that the third-quarter grace period is being extended, but the public notice does not give an exact extended date. Check the live account or contact Tax & Sewer Collections before relying on an older deadline.

How to pay Asbury Park property taxes online

The City links taxpayers to its official online system for tax, sewer and PILOT account lookup and payment. Start with the property details shown on your bill so that you select the correct account before submitting money.

Open the City-linked payment portal Use the official Asbury Park payment link rather than relying on a payment site found through an advertisement or unrelated search result.
Find the correct property account Match the property location and available account information. If you have a bill, keep its Block, Lot and Qualifier information available.
Review the balance and payment quarter Confirm that you are paying the intended installment or outstanding balance. The City asks taxpayers to identify the owner, property location, amount and payment quarter on payments.
Review the portal before authorizing payment Check the amount and any payment terms displayed by the live system before submitting. Online payment conditions can change.
Keep the confirmation Save the payment confirmation or receipt until the account reflects the transaction.
Do not assume an online convenience fee. The City directs users to the live payment system for online transactions. Review the current portal terms before authorizing a payment rather than relying on an old fee amount from another website.

Payment calendar

Asbury Park property tax due dates and grace period

The City’s regular statutory tax, sewer and PILOT installment dates are February 1, May 1, August 1 and November 1. These dates follow New Jersey’s quarterly municipal property-tax structure.

Regular Asbury Park municipal payment schedule
Quarter Regular due date Regular City grace rule
First quarter February 1 10-day grace period
Second quarter May 1 10-day grace period
Third quarter August 1 Normally 10 days; check current notices for extensions
Fourth quarter November 1 10-day grace period; accelerated tax-sale rules are important

If the 10th day falls on a weekend or holiday, the City’s published policy extends the grace period to the next business day. A payment received after the applicable grace period can be charged interest back to the original due date.

Postmarks do not control the payment date. The City states that the Tax Collector cannot acknowledge a postmark for this purpose. The payment is credited based on when it is received, so allow enough delivery time when mailing a payment.

Delinquent accounts

Late taxes and Asbury Park’s accelerated tax sale

Asbury Park uses an accelerated tax-sale process. This matters most near the fourth-quarter deadline because outstanding municipal charges can move into tax-sale processing during the same year they become due.

Check the full municipal balance Do not look only at one quarterly tax installment. Confirm whether tax, sewer or other municipal charges remain unpaid.
Pay before the City’s tax-sale cutoff The City’s standing guidance says property owners must pay all municipal charges by November 10 to avoid accelerated tax-sale processing.
Expect delinquent accounts to move into tax-sale processing The City states that properties with delinquencies beginning November 11 are included in the accelerated tax-sale process.
Use guaranteed funds when required Payments made to avoid an upcoming tax sale must follow the City’s current instructions. The City identifies cash, certified check or money order for tax-sale and lien payments.
A tax sale does not mean the property itself is immediately sold. The City’s explanation says the delinquent municipal charges are sold and become a lien against the property. Owners facing a delinquent balance should contact the Tax Collector directly rather than relying on a general explanation of New Jersey tax sales.

Lien payoff or redemption request

The City states that lien information must be requested in writing under New Jersey law. Its published instructions direct lien-payoff requests to the Tax Collector by email.

Troubleshooting

What to do when a tax payment or bill has a problem

You did not receive a tax bill

The City states that not receiving a bill does not remove the obligation to pay taxes, sewer charges or applicable interest. Check the account online and contact the office if the mailing information is wrong.

Your payment does not appear

Keep your receipt or online confirmation and contact Tax & Sewer Collections with the property information, amount and payment date.

Your mailing address is wrong

The City directs property mailing-address changes to the Tax Assessor rather than the Tax Collector.

You mailed payment near the deadline

Do not assume the postmark protects the grace-period date. Asbury Park credits the payment based on receipt, not the mailing postmark.
