South Brunswick Tax Collector: Pay Your Bill, Check Hours & Avoid Late Interest

South Brunswick Township property taxes are collected by Tax & Revenue Collections at the Municipal Building in Monmouth Junction. You can view or pay a tax account online, pay at the tax counter, mail a check or money order, use the Finance drop box, or enroll in the Township’s no-fee ACH direct-debit plan.

For the current fourth quarter of 2026, the Township lists November 1 as the due date and November 10 as the grace-period deadline. Payments received after the applicable grace period can have interest charged back to the original quarterly due date.

Deadline rule that matters: South Brunswick says the payment must be received by the end of the grace period. A postal postmark does not protect a late payment. The Township also says post-dated checks are returned.

Primary task

How to view and pay a South Brunswick property tax bill online

South Brunswick links taxpayers to an Edmunds WIPP property-tax account portal. Use the Township-linked portal rather than choosing a payment site from an advertisement or an unfamiliar search result.

Open the Township-authorized tax portal Use the South Brunswick WIPP link and confirm that the account you open belongs to the Township of South Brunswick before continuing.
Find the correct property account Search using the property or account information requested by the portal. Compare the property address and account details carefully, especially when names or mailing addresses are similar.
Review the balance and tax period Confirm that you are paying the intended quarterly installment or delinquent balance. If the account involves a tax lien or another unusual charge, contact the Tax Collector before assuming the standard online payment route will resolve it.
Review the processor fee before submitting South Brunswick’s official Tax Collections page states that online payment fees apply. The Township page does not publish the current fee amount, so review the fee displayed by the payment processor before authorizing the transaction.
Keep your confirmation Save the payment date, amount and confirmation information. Recheck the tax account later if you need to verify that the payment posted correctly.
Do not guess the current online fee: the Township confirms that fees apply, but its current Tax Collections page does not state a dollar or percentage amount. Check the processor’s displayed charge at checkout before approving payment.
Quarterly calendar

South Brunswick property tax due dates and grace period

The Township’s regular property-tax installments are due February 1, May 1, August 1 and November 1. South Brunswick provides a 10-day grace period. If the tenth day falls on a weekend or legal holiday, the deadline moves to the next business day.

November 1, 2026 Fourth-quarter 2026 due date. The Township currently lists November 10, 2026 as the grace-period date and November 2, 2026 as the ACH date.
February 1, 2027 First-quarter 2027 due date. The published grace-period date is February 10, 2027, with ACH scheduled for February 1.
May 1, 2027 Second-quarter 2027 due date. The Township lists May 10, 2027 as the grace-period date and May 3, 2027 as the ACH date.
After the grace period: South Brunswick states that a payment received after the applicable grace date has interest charged back to the original quarterly due date. Not receiving a paper tax bill does not remove the tax obligation or related interest.

Troubleshooting

What to do when a South Brunswick tax payment or bill has a problem

You bought the property but do not have a tax bill The Township tells new owners to contact Tax & Revenue Collections for the amount due or use the online tax-account lookup. Do not wait for a paper bill before checking the account.
Your bill never arrived Non-receipt does not cancel the tax or interest. Check the official account and contact the office if the mailing address or ownership information appears wrong.
Your mailed payment was sent before the deadline but arrived late South Brunswick does not use the postal postmark as the payment date. Contact the tax office for the current balance and interest rather than resending the old amount.
Your drop-box payment was deposited after noon The Township says a check placed in the drop box after 12 noon is posted on the next business day. This matters when the grace-period deadline is close.
Your property account information is wrong Tax collection records are updated from the Tax Assessor. The Township directs account-update questions to the Assessor’s office at extension 7242.
You disagree with the property’s assessed value That is an assessment issue, not a Tax Collector payment dispute. Contact the South Brunswick Tax Assessor and, where appropriate, the Middlesex County Tax Board appeal process.
Right office

Tax Collector vs Tax Assessor: where should your question go?

Route South Brunswick property-tax questions correctly
Your issue Office Why Contact route
Tax bill balance or payment Tax & Revenue Collections The Collector bills, collects, reports and enforces municipal taxes. 732-329-4000 ext. 7854.
Lien, tax sale or lien redemption Tax Collector / Finance The Township directory routes these matters to the Tax Collector. 732-329-4000 ext. 7307.
Owner/account record update Tax Assessor Collector records are updated from Assessor records. 732-329-4000 ext. 7242.
Senior, veteran or disability tax deduction Tax Assessor The Township states that deductions are granted by the Assessor’s Office. 732-329-4000 ext. 7242.
Assessment appeal Tax Assessor / Middlesex County Tax Board An appeal challenges the assessment rather than simply the amount of the tax bill. Start with the Assessor.
Assessment appeal distinction: South Brunswick’s Tax Assessor page explains that an appeal concerns the property’s assessment compared with market value, not merely the amount of tax billed. The Township page currently tells owners to file a regular assessment appeal before April 1; verify the applicable year’s deadline before filing.
Delinquent accounts

Late taxes, liens and South Brunswick tax-sale questions

South Brunswick’s current Tax Collections page says a payment received after the grace period is charged interest back to the quarterly due date. Township audit records also document the municipality’s use of New Jersey’s delinquent-tax interest framework and the additional year-end penalty applicable to qualifying large delinquencies.

If your account is substantially delinquent, has already entered tax-sale proceedings or has a lien, request the amount needed for the specific date you intend to pay. A normal quarterly balance displayed online should not be treated as a guaranteed lien-redemption figure.

Do not use an old tax-sale notice as a current payoff quote. South Brunswick held its 2026 online tax sale on May 19, 2026 for 2025 and earlier delinquencies. That date is historical. For a current lien, redemption or tax-sale question, contact the Tax Collector at extension 7307 and check current Township notices.

Local property-tax deductions are handled through the South Brunswick Tax Assessor rather than being granted by the Tax Collector. The Township also directs residents to New Jersey’s state property-tax relief programs.
