Choose the Right Pinellas Tax Collector Office Before You Drive

Pinellas County has four main Tax Collector offices, two Clearwater locations, a Largo office, a St. Petersburg office, online tax systems and Palm Harbor kiosk options.

This guide helps you schedule the right appointment, avoid the wrong branch, pay property taxes safely, and handle tourist development tax registration without guessing.

Appointment required
  • driver-license road tests;
  • hazardous-material services;
  • verbal testing;
  • concealed weapon licensing.

  • ordinary driver-license or ID transactions;
  • vehicle and vessel registration;

Clearwater offices

Pinellas County Tax Collector Clearwater: North County vs Gulf to Bay

Clearwater has two listed Tax Collector offices. Choose North County for the US 19 location and some specialty routing; choose Gulf to Bay when that is closer and your task is a normal license, registration, road-test, hunting/fishing or property-tax service.

North County – US 19

Address: 29399 US Highway 19 N, Suite 100, Clearwater, FL 33761.

Good for: north county residents, road testing, property tax, vehicle work, license services and CWL in Suite 280 during separate hours.

Before driving: confirm the specialty entrance and whether your service requires an appointment.

Gulf to Bay – Clearwater

Address: 1663 Gulf to Bay Boulevard, Clearwater, FL 33755.

Good for: central Clearwater services, property tax, registrations, driver licenses, road tests, kiosk and drop box.

Before driving: check the current wait estimate and testing cutoff.

Largo office

Pinellas County Tax Collector Largo: Mid County office

The Largo-area office is the Mid County office at 13025 Starkey Road, Largo, FL 33773. It is often the practical pick for central Pinellas residents who need property tax, vehicle registration, driver license, road-test, hunting/fishing, kiosk or drop-box service.

Local tip: do not choose Largo just because it is central. If your transaction is HazMat, road test or another specialty service, use the appointment system first and follow the location it assigns.

Open the official portalUse the official payment link from the Tax Collector site, not a random ad or search result.
Confirm the parcel and tax yearMatch owner, parcel/account, property address, year, balance and discount amount if applicable.
Choose the route based on timingNear a deadline, online or in-person payment is safer than last-minute mail because postmark handling can affect acceptance.
Keep payment proofSave receipt, confirmation number, parcel/account number and bank/card proof until the county system reflects the payment.
Discount timing: Florida early-payment discount months run from November through February, with March as the no-discount amount. If a discount deadline falls on a weekend or legal holiday, online/in-person handling and mailed postmark rules can differ.

Pinellas County tourist development tax registration

Pinellas short-term rental owners, managers and hosts should not treat tourist development tax as the same thing as ordinary property tax. The official tourist tax page says rentals of living quarters for six months or less may require registration, collection and remittance.

Scheduled system note: the official tourist development tax page currently warns that services are unavailable from September 29 through October 2, 2026 due to a system upgrade. Tourist Development customers are told to watch for email instructions.

Specialty visits

Road tests, HazMat and concealed weapon license visits

Specialty transactions are where most wrong-office mistakes happen. A branch may offer ordinary driver-license service but still have separate rules for road tests, HazMat processing or concealed weapon licensing.

Road tests

Appointment required. Road tests take about 30 minutes, and the official page warns that appointments are in high demand and can book quickly.

HazMat

Appointment required. The location page and FAQ wording may not always present the same office list, so follow the appointment system or call first.

Concealed weapon license

Appointment required. North County and South County list separate CWL office locations and shorter specialty hours.

Practical check: do not rely on general office hours for specialty services. Confirm the service, exact office, floor/suite, appointment time and current documents before visiting.
