Deschutes County accepts property-tax payments online, by phone, in person, by mail, through participating banks’ online bill-pay systems and at designated drop boxes. The best method depends on how close you are to the deadline and whether you want to pay a card-processing fee.
Search the official county tax-payment system using the six-digit account number, owner name, address or tax lot number.
Call 866-871-5856. The county says the automated payment line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Visit the Tax Office at 1300 NW Wall Street, Suite 203, in Bend during regular office hours.
Pay online step by step
Use the county’s secure property-tax lookup rather than relying on an unfamiliar third-party search result.
The six-digit account number from the tax statement usually gives the most precise result. The system can also search by owner name, property address or tax lot number.
Confirm the account, owner or property information and the amount due before continuing.
Decide whether you are paying in full, paying two-thirds or making an installment. Review the convenience fee before submitting an electronic payment.
Keep the confirmation or receipt with your tax records. Card and electronic payments may take time to appear on the county balance.
Deschutes County property tax due dates for 2026–27
Oregon normally uses November 15, February 15 and May 15 installment dates, with the deadline moving to the next business day when necessary. Deschutes County has published the adjusted dates below for the 2026–27 tax year.
| Due date | Payment option | Discount | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| November 16, 2026 | Full, two-thirds or first one-third | 3% full / 2% on two-thirds | First payment deadline for the 2026–27 tax year. |
| February 15, 2027 | Second one-third installment | None | Second installment for taxpayers using the three-payment option. |
| May 17, 2027 | Final one-third installment | None | Final installment deadline for the tax year. |
Online and phone payment fees
Electronic payments are processed through Point & Pay. Review the fee before authorizing the transaction, especially for a large tax bill because some card fees are percentage-based.
| Payment method | Convenience fee | Useful detail |
|---|---|---|
| Visa or Mastercard debit card | $3.95 per transaction | Applies to qualifying Visa/Mastercard debit-card transactions. |
| Other debit cards | 2.5%, minimum $2 | Percentage fee applies to the payment amount. |
| Credit card | 2.5%, minimum $2 | County lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. |
| eCheck up to $500,000 | $2 per transaction | Often lower-cost than a percentage card fee. |
| eCheck over $500,000 | $20 fixed fee | Applies when the payment exceeds $500,000. |

The official payment search works best with the six-digit account number printed on the tax statement. If you do not have it, the system also allows searches using an owner name, property address or tax lot number.
Use the six-digit account number. This is usually the fastest way to reach the intended account.
Search by owner name, address or tax lot number and carefully confirm the property before paying.

What to do if something is wrong with your bill or payment
Electronic card payments processed through Point & Pay may take up to three business days to appear on the balance. Keep the confirmation and avoid immediately paying a second time.
Contact the Assessor’s Office rather than the Tax Office. The Assessor handles appraisal and valuation questions.
Review the account or contact the Tax Office for the amount needed. Prior-year delinquency can affect the amount required for a current-year discount.
Address changes must be submitted to the county in writing. Include the six-digit tax account number so the request can be matched correctly.
Property damaged by fire or an Act of God
Oregon law provides a property-tax proration process for qualifying property that is damaged or destroyed by fire or another qualifying Act of God. Deschutes County says an application generally must be made by June 30 of the fiscal year in which the damage occurred or within 60 days after the damage, whichever is later.
This is a special situation, so contact the Tax Office before assuming a payment should be reduced. The Assessor determines the percentage of qualifying damage after an application is received.
