Allegheny County Tax Collector Office: Pay Tax Bill & Hours

Allegheny County real estate taxes are handled by the Allegheny County Treasurer’s Office. Use this page to find the official property search, pay a current county tax bill, check 2026 deadlines, confirm office hours, obtain a receipt, or determine where an older delinquent balance should be handled.

County tax is only one part of the local property-tax picture. Municipalities and school districts can have separate collectors, so confirm which bill you are dealing with before sending a payment.

2026 timing: The 2% discount period ended March 31, 2026, and the face-value period ended April 30. The Treasurer lists May 1, 2026 as the start of the past-due period, with a one-time 5% penalty plus 1% interest accruing monthly.

Online payment methods and fees

E-check

The Treasurer lists e-check as a free payment option. You will need the routing and account numbers from your checking account.

Debit or credit card

The 2026 Treasurer’s Bulletin lists a 2.4% service fee for card transactions. The payment portal shows the final applicable fee before authorization, so review that amount before submitting.

Avoid unofficial bill-payment sites: The Treasurer specifically directs taxpayers to the county website and its contracted processor, Forte, and warns that services such as doxo are not affiliated with Allegheny County.

Pay by mail

For county real estate taxes, the official portal lists the following payment mailing address. Include the parcel ID or follow the instructions printed on the tax bill so the payment can be matched correctly.

Allegheny County Treasurer

Lookup & receipts

Find an Allegheny County property tax record

The official Real Estate Portal lets you search by property address or parcel ID. The parcel identifier is also referred to locally as the lot/block number and is the safest identifier to use when several properties have similar addresses.

Confirm the parcel address before paying.
Check the parcel ID or lot/block number.
Open the Tax Info section for the correct year.
Review paid status, tax, penalty, interest and total when displayed.

How to get a paid receipt

The Treasurer no longer automatically mails property-tax receipts in the same way it once did. For supported tax years, a paid receipt can be downloaded from the tax information area after the payment has been processed.

The Treasurer says receipts generally become available within 7–10 business days after processing. The portal indicates that only the current year and prior year are available electronically; call the Treasurer for older receipt requests.

Older balances

Who handles delinquent and prior-year county taxes?

The Allegheny County Treasurer states that its Real Estate Department collects current-year county taxes. Delinquent and liened prior-year taxes are referred to Jordan Tax Service.

Current-year county tax Use the Allegheny County Treasurer’s Office and official Real Estate Portal.
Delinquent or liened prior-year county tax Contact Jordan Tax Service at 412-835-5243 for the balance and payment instructions.
Do not mail an old balance using current-year instructions without checking first. Prior-year accounts can be transferred for delinquent collection, so verify the correct collector and payoff amount before sending funds.
Jurisdiction check

County tax collector vs. municipal tax collector

Searching for “Allegheny County PA tax collector” can lead to more than one office because property owners may receive county, municipal and school real estate tax bills. The County Treasurer handles the county real estate tax, while individual municipalities have their own listed tax collectors or collection services.

For 2026, the county publishes a municipality tax millage table that identifies the collector and telephone number for each municipality. Use that list when the bill you are trying to pay is issued by a borough, township, municipality or city rather than Allegheny County itself.

1
County bill

Use the Allegheny County Treasurer for current-year county real estate tax.

2
Municipal bill

Use the collector listed for your municipality on the county’s official millage table.

3
School tax bill

Follow the collector and instructions printed by the applicable school district or its tax collector.

Assessment vs. collection

What if the property value or assessment is wrong?

The Treasurer collects the tax but does not set the assessed value of the property. Questions about the taxable assessment or an assessment appeal belong with the Allegheny County Office of Property Assessments rather than the Treasurer’s payment office.

Problem with payment, tax bill, receipt or mailing address Contact the Treasurer at 412-350-4100.
Problem with assessed value Contact the Office of Property Assessments at 412-350-4636 and follow the county’s appeal process.
Do not ignore a current tax bill while an assessment issue is being reviewed. Confirm the applicable payment and appeal instructions directly with the county so you understand the effect of an appeal on the amount currently due.
Tax relief

Senior and other property-tax relief programs

The Treasurer administers Allegheny County’s Act 77 Senior Citizen Tax Relief Program. The office describes the benefit as a 30% discount on county real estate tax for a qualifying senior citizen’s primary residence.

The Treasurer’s current program page states that the 2026 application period has closed and that the 2027 application is expected to be available in January 2027. Eligibility and documentation should be checked against the application for the year in which you apply.

The county also publishes information about other relief or credit programs, including the Homestead exclusion, Pennsylvania Property Tax/Rent Rebate, catastrophic-loss abatement and a Volunteer Service Tax Credit for qualifying volunteer emergency responders.

Paperless billing

Allegheny County eBilling

Property owners can use the official property portal to subscribe to county real estate tax eBills. The Treasurer says enrollment must be completed by December 31 for the following calendar year.

The portal also states that taxpayers whose county taxes are being paid through a mortgage escrow account cannot subscribe through that eBilling option. If an escrow arrangement changes, contact the Treasurer to confirm where future bills should be sent.

Mailing address changes: The Treasurer’s 2026 bulletin lists 412-350-4100 and TreasurerAddressChange@AlleghenyCounty.us for county tax-bill mailing-address updates.
