How to pay a Palm Beach County property tax bill
The Constitutional Tax Collector provides online payment for current Palm Beach County property taxes. Before submitting payment, match the property information and Property Control Number on the account to your bill or property record.
Property tax due dates and early-payment discounts
Palm Beach County property taxes are generally payable from November 1 through March 31. The Tax Collector’s published schedule provides progressively smaller early-payment discounts before the account becomes delinquent.
| Payment period | Typical discount or status | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| November | 4% discount | The largest regular early-payment discount. |
| December | 3% discount | A reduced early-payment discount applies. |
| January | 2% discount | The discount decreases again. |
| February | 1% discount | Final regular discount month. |
| March | No regular discount | Current taxes can still be paid before delinquency. |
| April 1 | Delinquent | Penalties and interest apply to unpaid property taxes. |
Not receiving a paper bill does not remove the responsibility to pay the tax. If a bill has not arrived, use the official online account lookup rather than waiting until the deadline.
Online, mail, drop box and in-person payment options
The best payment method depends on how close you are to a deadline, whether the tax is current or delinquent and whether you need in-person assistance.
| Method | Typical processing information | Important detail |
|---|---|---|
| Online | About 1–3 business days | eCheck and credit/debit card are available for eligible current taxes. |
| Wire transfer | About 1–3 business days | Official instructions should be obtained from the Tax Collector before sending funds. |
| Service center | Reservation required for in-person service | Current taxes can generally be paid with several payment types, including cash and cards. |
| Drop box | About 5–7 business days | Check, money order and cashier’s check are accepted for current real-estate property tax. |
| Allow about 10–15 business days | Do not leave mailing until the last moment when a deadline is close. |
For mailed property-tax payments, use the current mailing instructions published by the Constitutional Tax Collector. Because addresses and payment handling can change, confirm the address on the official payment-options page or current tax bill before sending funds.

What happens when Palm Beach County property tax becomes delinquent?
Unpaid property tax becomes delinquent on April 1 and is then subject to penalties and interest. The Constitutional Tax Collector states that delinquent real-estate property tax cannot be paid through the normal online payment route.
For delinquent taxes, the office states that payment must be received by the last working day of the month to be considered paid in that month. A postal postmark is not treated as proof of payment after delinquency.
Personal checks and credit/debit cards are not listed as accepted at service centers for delinquent real-estate property tax. Certified-payment requirements can therefore differ from a normal current-year bill.
Installment Payment Plan for property taxes
Palm Beach County offers an Installment Payment Plan that divides eligible property or tangible personal property taxes into four payments rather than one annual lump sum.
The office states that missing the first June/July payment removes the taxpayer from the installment plan. Once properly enrolled, a participant generally does not need to reapply each year as long as the first installment is made by the applicable deadline.
Tax Collector vs. Property Appraiser: who should you contact?
A frequent source of delay is asking the Tax Collector to change information controlled by the Property Appraiser. The Tax Collector collects the tax bill; the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser determines taxable values, maintains assessment records and administers property-tax exemptions.
| Your question | Office to start with | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Pay a property-tax bill | Constitutional Tax Collector | The Tax Collector receives property-tax payments. |
| Check whether tax is paid | Constitutional Tax Collector | The tax account shows the collection balance. |
| Question assessed value | Property Appraiser | The Property Appraiser establishes taxable values. |
| Homestead or other exemption | Property Appraiser | Exemption eligibility and records are handled there. |
| Correct ownership or property record | Property Appraiser | The office maintains the county property assessment record. |
| Delinquent payment | Constitutional Tax Collector | The Tax Collector provides the current payoff and accepted payment options. |
