Broward County Tax Collector: Property Search, Phone & Pay Online

Broward County, Florida · property tax, business tax and Plantation motor-vehicle office

Search, Pay or Visit the Right Broward Tax Collector Office

Use this guide to search Broward County property taxes, pay online, call the correct phone number, renew a Business Tax Receipt or decide whether you need Fort Lauderdale, Plantation or a registration kiosk.

The biggest mistake is using the closest “near me” result before matching the service. Fort Lauderdale handles tax services; Plantation handles vehicle, vessel, title, registration and parking-permit work.

Two-office warning: the Broward County Tax Collector has a tax-services office in Fort Lauderdale and a motor-vehicle office in Plantation. A private tag agency, supermarket kiosk or old county department listing is not the same thing as the Tax Collector office.

Tax Lien Warning

⛔ Texas Attorney Fee Warning: After July 1, delinquent property taxes are referred to a collection attorney. An additional 15–20% attorney fee is added on top of your penalty and interest. On a $5,000 tax bill, this adds $750–$1,000 instantly. Pay before July 1 to avoid this.

Fast decision

Where should Broward residents start?

1
Property tax search or payment

Use the official Broward property-tax portal. Match owner, address, account, tax year and discount month before checkout.

2
Property value or exemption

Use the Broward County Property Appraiser, not the Tax Collector, for value, homestead, ownership and mailing-address records.

3
Title, registration or parking permit

Use the Plantation motor-vehicle office or an eligible online, Express Lane or kiosk route.

4
Business Tax Receipt renewal

Renew before October 1. New applications at the Fort Lauderdale office have a 4:30 p.m. cutoff.

5
Office near me

Choose by service first. A kiosk may be closer, but it only handles eligible routine registration renewal.

6
Public record or payment proof

Use official online records first, then the public-records route if you need a specific Tax Collector record.

Broward’s official office page separates tax services from motor-vehicle services. Do not plan a visit based on county name alone.

Near-me search intent

Broward County Tax Collector office near me: how to avoid the wrong counter

You need property-tax help

Start online. Visit Fort Lauderdale only when the portal, mail route or phone support does not solve the issue.

You need tag or title help

Use Plantation. A Fort Lauderdale tax counter cannot complete vehicle, vessel, mobile-home title or registration work.

You only need a routine decal

Try eligible online renewal, Express Lane or a kiosk. Kiosks print the registration and decal on site.

Private tag agency warning: a map result may show a private tag agency. It may be legitimate for certain work, but it is not the Broward County Tax Collector and may have different fees, hours and service limits.

Pay online

How to pay Broward County property taxes online without choosing the wrong account

Open the official payment pathUse BrowardTax.org or its linked county-taxes.net Broward portal, not a directory, ad or unofficial lookalike.
Locate the accountSearch by owner, property address or account number. If several results appear, open each likely record and compare carefully.
Verify the exact billCheck tax year, account, property, discount month, paid/unpaid status and whether the bill is real estate or tangible personal property.
Choose a payment methodUse eCheck when eligible for the lowest-cost route. Review card fees before using credit or debit on a large tax bill.
Save and recheckKeep the confirmation number and check back until the account shows posted. Do not make a duplicate payment just because processing is not instant.
Receipt tip: for closing, escrow, refund, lender or accounting proof, save the official receipt and the bank/card record. The screenshot alone may not be enough later.
