Manatee County Tax Collector: Pay Taxes, Book Appointments & Use the Right Office
The Manatee County Tax Collector is the official local office for property tax collection, tax bill payments, vehicle and boat transactions, driver license and ID card services, parking permits, hunting and fishing licenses, concealed weapon services where routed, tourist tax and several Florida state services delivered locally.
This updated guide helps you choose the correct official payment portal, branch, mailing address, appointment route or related office before you pay, drive to Bradenton, book a road test or handle a rental-tax account.
Start with the task
Quick answer: where do you pay Manatee County taxes?
Use the official Manatee County Tax Collector website or its linked property tax website when you need to view, search or pay a Manatee County property tax bill. Online payment is usually the fastest route, while mail, drop box and appointment-based office payment may fit different situations.
If the question is about assessed value, exemptions, ownership, parcel records, TRIM notices or a property-tax address change, use the Manatee County Property Appraiser. The Tax Collector collects the bill; the Property Appraiser handles the assessment and record side.

Information reviewed for this update
Official source review completed on September 14, 2026. Office hours, appointment slots, road-test availability, payment fees, property-tax balances, public-record instructions, state-system availability and holiday closures can change. For an actual payment or deadline, your current bill and the official Tax Collector or Property Appraiser page control.
Florida page correction
This is a Manatee County, Florida guide. Do not apply Texas attorney-fee timing, Texas appraisal-district rules or another state’s delinquent-tax calculator to a Manatee County property tax bill. Florida discount periods, March 31 timing, tax certificates and local agency roles are different.
Manatee County Tax Collector office locations
The Tax Collector’s current visit page lists three Tax Collector branch locations and two private license plate agencies. The Tax Collector branches require appointments and are for Manatee County residents and businesses. The private agencies can help with certain motor vehicle, boat and mobile home work, but they are not full Tax Collector branches.

Which Manatee County Tax Collector office should you choose?
Do not choose a branch only because it is closest. Driver license testing, full driver license service, drop boxes, private tag-agency walk-ins and tourist-tax questions are routed differently.
| Need | Best starting route | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Property tax payment | Official property tax website, mail, drop box, or appointment-based branch visit | Verify parcel/account and payment period before submitting. |
| In-person Tax Collector service | TaxCollector.com appointment scheduler | Tax Collector branch services require appointments and Manatee County residency/business connection. |
| Drop box payment | West Manatee or East Manatee branch drive-thru drop boxes | Use only when you do not need staff help or a same-window answer. |
| Full driver license service | Driver License Branch at 904 301 Blvd W | All transactions require an appointment and an online application before the appointment. |
| Class E road test | Driver License Branch or East Manatee Branch | Appointment-only and limited to Manatee County residents if using the Tax Collector office. |
| Vehicle title now / weekend option | Private license plate agencies | They are privately owned, may charge additional fees and do not provide all Tax Collector services. |
| Tourist tax | Field Services / Tourist Tax Team | Use the official tourist-tax instructions before assuming a booking platform remitted your county tax. |
| Value or exemption | Manatee County Property Appraiser | The Tax Collector cannot fix assessed value or grant exemptions. |
Manatee County Tax Collector appointments
The official visit page states that all in-person services at Tax Collector branches require an appointment. The appointment route is for Manatee County residents and businesses only. Scheduling the wrong service can cause problems when you arrive, especially for driver license transactions.
- Pick the exact transaction. Choose property tax, driver license, tag/title, road test, parking permit, hunting/fishing, tourist tax or another listed service.
- Choose the correct branch. Driver testing and full driver license work are not available at every location.
- Book through the official appointment page. Do not use a third-party appointment seller or unofficial form.
- Complete required online forms. Driver license and ID card work requires an online application before the appointment.
- Bring original documents. For Real ID, license transfer, learner permit or name change, use the official document checklist before you drive.
Search, verify and pay Manatee County property taxes
Property tax in Florida involves two separate offices. The Property Appraiser assesses the property and sends the TRIM notice. The Tax Collector sends the bill, collects payment and handles payment-related questions. This split matters when your bill looks wrong.
Two official property routes
How to pay online safely
- Start from TaxCollector.com. Open the official Manatee County Tax Collector website or the linked property tax website.
- Search the correct tax account. Use the parcel, account, owner or property information shown on your tax notice.
- Match the bill. Confirm property, tax year, discount period, amount, owner and any delinquent or escrow warning.
- Review the payment method. E-check and card options may have different fees and rules.
- Save the confirmation. Online transactions are final, so keep the confirmation and later verify that the payment posted to the correct account.
Payment methods, card fees and bill-pay risk
The official payment guidance says property taxes may be paid online by electronic debit from a checking account, credit card or debit card. For in-person payments, the office lists cash, check, cashier’s check, money order, debit card, credit card and certified funds, depending on the transaction and account status.
| Payment method | Officially listed guidance | Practical check |
|---|---|---|
| Online e-check | Electronic debit from a checking account in U.S. funds. | Often the lowest-fee online route, but verify account and routing details carefully. |
| Online credit/debit card | Card payments are accepted through a third-party processor. | Review the final fee before submitting; the Tax Collector does not retain the fee. |
| In-person debit card | The official Help Center lists a $2.75 debit-card processing fee. | Check your bank’s daily limit before using debit for a large bill. |
| Credit card | The official Help Center lists 2.75% with a $2.75 minimum. | A large tax bill can create a significant card-processing fee. |
| Commercial or international card online | The payment-options article lists 3.95% with a $2.75 minimum for online commercial or international card transactions. | Verify the live checkout fee; do not rely on old screenshots. |
| Bank bill-pay service | The office warns that bill-pay services mail a paper check rather than directly paying the tax account. | Include the property identification number and schedule early enough to be received by the deadline. |
| Delinquent taxes | Delinquent taxes require cash, cashier’s check, treasurer’s check, money order, debit card, credit card, certified funds, or credit card if online only. | Call or use the official route before paying an old balance. |
Do not double-pay after a failed screen
Online payment transactions are final and cannot be reversed, cancelled, post-dated or refunded. If the screen freezes, a receipt email does not arrive or the bank shows a pending charge, verify payment status before submitting another payment.
Manatee County property-tax discounts, timing and delinquency
The official current property-tax page lists annual payment discount periods and the final March payment window. Exact dates can move when the calendar, weekends or holidays affect the current tax cycle, so always compare the live Tax Collector page and your actual notice.
| Payment period | Discount / meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| November period | 4% discount period on the current official schedule. | Use the amount shown on the notice or live portal for that period. |
| December period | 3% discount period. | Confirm the December amount before paying. |
| January | 2% discount period. | Check for correct tax year and discount amount. |
| February | 1% discount period. | Pay before the February window ends to keep the listed discount. |
| March 1–March 31 | No discount; last month before delinquency. | Pay by the deadline if you want to avoid delinquency. |
| March 31 | Last day before taxes become delinquent. | Pay online by 11:59 PM EST, in person by 5:00 PM EST, or by mail with proper postmark timing. |
| After March 31 | Interest, advertising charges and late fees may apply. | Use the live amount or contact the official office before paying. |
Installment plan reminder
Florida law allows eligible taxpayers to apply for a quarterly installment plan when the estimated tax is more than $100. The Tax Collector’s 2026 installment notice highlighted an April 30 application deadline, so future applications should be checked early on the official page.
Mail, overnight mail and drop-box payments
Mailing to the wrong address can delay a transaction or cause added problems. The Tax Collector’s mailing page separates the standard mailing address, overnight mailing address and legal-document address.
Standard mail
Ken Burton Jr., Manatee County Tax CollectorPO Box 25300
Bradenton FL 34206-5300
Use the official payment instructions and include the correct property identification number.
Overnight mail
Ken Burton Jr., Manatee County Tax Collector819 301 Blvd W
Bradenton FL 34205-7906
Use when the office’s instructions require overnight delivery or a trackable carrier.
Drop boxes
East Manatee and West Manatee branches list drive-thru-area drop boxes. They can be used during or after hours for property tax payments, registration renewals or voter registration applications.
Check, money order and bill-pay details matter
For mailed property tax payments, make checks payable to the Tax Collector as instructed. Bank bill-pay checks can miss deadlines because the bank mails a paper check, so do not wait until the last day when using that method.
Delinquent taxes, tax certificates and Field Services
Manatee County’s property tax deadline notice states that March 31 is the last opportunity to pay before interest, advertising charges and late fees are assessed. If real estate taxes stay unpaid, the matter can move toward tax certificate sale procedures.
Delinquent real estate tax
After March 31, verify the live balance before paying. Do not estimate from an old notice because fees and collection steps can change.
Tax certificates and tax deeds
The Field Services and Collections Department routes legal-team topics including tax certificates, tax deeds, bankruptcy, NSF, deferred taxes and certain good-faith payments.
Delinquent tangible property
The Field Deputy Team handles delinquent tangible personal property, Going Out of Business permits, mobile home junked titles and mobile home summons issues.
Bradenton, FL 34205
Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–4:30 PM
Appointments are recommended for Field Services and Collections.
Use Legal@Taxcollector.com, FieldDeputies@Taxcollector.com or TouristTax@Taxcollector.com based on the issue.
Driver license, ID cards, written exams and road tests
The Manatee County Tax Collector provides Florida driver license and ID card services, but the branch and document rules matter. Limited branches may handle renewals, replacements, address or name changes, out-of-state transfer and learner-license transactions without testing, while full or specialized needs may require the Driver License Branch.
| Driver license need | Best route | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Renewal, replacement, address or name change | Check whether it can be processed online or at a limited branch. | Name changes must be reported to Social Security first when required. |
| Non-US citizen documentation | Driver License Branch | USCIS documentation must meet official validity rules. |
| Written exam | Driver License Branch | The first-time learner guidance says written exams in office are offered only at the Driver License Branch and, effective 2/6/2026, exams are administered in English only. |
| Class E road test | Driver License Branch or East Manatee Branch | Appointment-only for Manatee County residents when using the Tax Collector office. |
| CDL driving skills road test | Use FLHSMV/private provider route | The Tax Collector Help Center says CDL driving skills road test is not offered in Manatee County. |
| Suspended or revoked license | Check status online or contact FLHSMV/Tax Collector as instructed. | Do not drive to an office if your license status means driving could lead to arrest or towing. |
Online application required
The Help Center says an online Driver License and ID Card Application is required for driver license or ID card transactions before the appointment. Do not print it; staff access the electronic submission during the appointment.
Vehicle, boat, mobile home and private tag agency routing
The Tax Collector’s motor vehicle page routes out-of-state transfers, Florida title transfers, title replacement, mobile home retirement, registration renewal, specialty plates, boat/trailer services, dealer work, sold-vehicle notices and related forms.
Use a Tax Collector branch when…
- You need a county Tax Collector appointment.
- The transaction requires official staff review.
- You have a driver license or ID issue tied to the visit.
- You need instructions before mailing a title or registration item.
Use a private tag agency when…
- You need a vehicle, mobile home or boat title transaction sooner.
- You want extended weekday or Saturday hours.
- You understand extra fees may apply.
- You do not need property tax, driver license or hunting/fishing service.
Private agency warning
First Manatee South County Tag Agency and Express Auto Tags North River are privately owned offices operating under authority granted by the Tax Collector. Processing requirements and fees may differ, and they do not replace every Tax Collector branch service.
Manatee County Tourist Development Tax
Manatee County short-term rental owners, managers and agents should not treat tourist tax like ordinary property tax. The Tax Collector Help Center describes tourist tax as a 13% tax on rentals or leases of six months or less: 6% is collected and remitted to the Manatee County Tax Collector, while 7% sales and use tax is collected and remitted to the Florida Department of Revenue.
Who needs to pay attention?
The official guidance applies to anyone who rents, leases, lets or grants use of living quarters or accommodations for six months or less, regardless of the owner’s state or country of residence.
Platform warning
The Help Center states the office does not have agreements with platforms such as Airbnb, HomeAway or VRBO. Owners remain responsible for collecting and remitting the county 6% tourist tax.
| Tourist-tax item | Official guidance | Practical step |
|---|---|---|
| County tourist tax | 6% remitted to Manatee County Tax Collector. | Register and file through the official tourist-tax route. |
| State sales and use tax | 7% remitted to Florida Department of Revenue. | Confirm state registration and reporting separately. |
| Filing timing | Monthly or quarterly returns are due on the first day after the reporting period and late after the 20th. | File even if no rentals occurred when a zero return is required. |
| Late penalty | Help Center lists 10% of tax owed or minimum $50.00. | A zero return can still create a minimum penalty if late. |
| Taxable revenue | Mandatory charges such as cleaning, resort, pet and reservation fees can be taxable. | Review total required guest charges, not only base rent. |
| Collection allowance | Electronic timely remittance may allow 2.5%, maximum $30 per month. | Check account eligibility before claiming it. |
Tourist Tax Team
For tourist tax registration, rental-tax evader reports and remittance questions, use the Tourist Tax Team route at 941-741-4809 or TouristTax@Taxcollector.com.
Local business tax receipts in Manatee County
The Tax Collector Help Center says businesses located in Manatee County but outside a city are not required to pay a county local business tax. That does not mean every business is license-free. City, state, zoning, DBPR, DOR or other permit requirements may still apply.
| Business location | Local route mentioned by official guidance | Phone |
|---|---|---|
| Town of Longboat Key | Town Clerk | 941-316-1999 |
| Anna Maria Island | Administration Office | 941-706-6130 ext. 110 |
| Holmes Beach | Code Compliance | 941-708-5800 ext. 263 |
| Bradenton Beach | City Hall | 941-778-1005 ext. 218 |
| City of Bradenton | City Hall | 941-932-9425 |
| City of Palmetto | Customer Service Department | 941-723-4570 |
County “not required” is not a full permission check
A business may still need city registration, zoning clearance, DBPR licensing, Florida Department of Revenue registration, fictitious-name registration, professional licensing or tourist-tax registration if it rents accommodations. Start with the correct city or state office before operating.
Tax Collector vs Property Appraiser vs Clerk vs FLHSMV
Many Manatee searches have the right county but the wrong office. Use this resolver before calling, emailing or paying.
Correct office resolver
Use for tax bills, payments, appointments and Tax Collector services.
Use for values, exemptions, ownership and property records.
Use for tourist tax, collections and specialized field/legal routing.
Common Manatee County Tax Collector problems
| Problem | Likely reason | Best next step |
|---|---|---|
| Portal payment failed or no receipt appeared | Browser, card, bank or processor issue. | Check for a pending charge and payment status before submitting again. |
| Bill-pay check missed the discount deadline | Bank bill-pay mailed a paper check. | Use the official payment portal or mail early enough for the office to receive it. |
| Tax bill value looks too high | Assessment or exemption issue. | Contact the Property Appraiser; do not expect the Tax Collector to lower value at payment time. |
| Address or ownership is wrong | Property record needs update. | Use the Property Appraiser’s change-of-address or ownership route. |
| Need a road test soon | Tax Collector slots may be limited. | Check the official appointment page and private provider options listed by FLHSMV. |
| Non-US citizen driver license issue | Documentation requires specialized review. | Use the Driver License Branch and bring required USCIS/legal-presence documents. |
| Short-term rental platform did not remit county tourist tax | Manatee says it does not have agreements with Airbnb/HomeAway/VRBO. | Register and remit the 6% county tourist tax through the official tourist-tax route. |
| Need Saturday vehicle title help | Tax Collector branches are closed weekends. | Check private tag agencies and confirm extra fees and service limitations first. |
